| New Member Hi everyone,
I am glad to form part of the forum as I am happy to be able discuss woodworking topics with you.
I have been an avid woodworker for a number of years producing various pieces of everyday furniture for friends as also select reproductions for my family.
Besides woodwork I have also constructed model aircraft, boats and ships. Whenever I needed a fretsaw I either used a common arc fret or the scroll saw on my Emco woodworking machine. The latter was full of vibrations and seemed somewhat dangerous. I have therefore given up using the scroll saw on the Emco.
This is why I have now decided to invest in a proper scroll saw. I have seen a post regarding a Jet JSS 16. This saw is currently on my wish list since it is well within my budget.
One spec. that I would like someone to explain to me is about the power of these scroll saws. Some models give the power in watts and others in amps. How can I compare like with like to determine which is the most powerful machine when comparing models?
Your replies will be grestly appreciated.

| Wellcome Joiner. From what has been said on this site in the past the power of a saw is not that important, unlike most other saws. The speed, vibration and ease of changing blades are the features I would look at. I have 2 Dewalt 788 and am really happy with them.

| Hi Greatdane2,
Thank you too for your reply. It seems that De Walt 788 is preferred by many members. I shall be taking your advice regarding the priorities to watch out for. I must also look at the price since my budget is somewhat limited. However, I should be able to find what I want thanks to the information that I will gather from the forum.
Happy scrolling! |

| Hi Burdez,
Good to know about the Hitachi CW40. The price is very reasonable too. I'll have a look at it as well. Thanks.
