Smile Hello from a new member

Hi, I have just joined. Have been scrolling about seven years, and I love it! Hope to hear from a lot of fellow scrollers. I live in Virginia, and am a member of a local artisan network. I sell some of my work in local craft shops, galleries, and a regional visitor center gift shop. I love learning new techniques, and find that I learn or discover something new almost every time I turn on the saw! Am wondering if someone could give me some info about the best blades to use for thick wood. Am making some bowls from 1" thick black walnut, and it is a devil to cut.

Hi KathyRo!

Thank you for the warm welcome. I looked at your gallery, I have made a bunch of the inlay coasters too! They are really fun to make. Hope to chat with you frequently.

Hi Minowevie.

No, I don't turn bowls on my saw, make them in two pieces. Cut the sides, then glue bottoms on. Really fun to make and look nice, too. Have tried the #7, works well on everything except this thick walnut, it is so dense.

Hi Wood Dog!

Yes, I really have an El Camino! Am in the process of restoring it now, will be driving it on the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour next spring, is a cross-country road trip of about 2,000 + cars. Have been twice before and had a blast! Will post some pictures of my scroll work if someone will tell me how!

Hi lucky788scroller.

Thanks for the advice. Where do you find the polar blades? Am not familiar with them. By the way, where in Wisconsin are you from. I will be in Wis. in June.

Hello ElCaminogal and welcome!!! You're about 150 miles down the Interstate (I77) from me. I rode my motorcycle across that big mountain in a drowning downpour last summer. You'll enjoy the folks here....great family of scrollers. Hope to see you around here a lot!!!
