| Greetings from Michigan Hi everybody. Been scrolling for about 20 years and have finally decided to launch a business. I am a one man shop and currently am trying to sell my work at craft fairs an shows. Don't expect to get rich but would like to make a little money at it. Would love suggestions on how to make a small fortune in scroll sawing unless you are going to say "Start with a large one". Looking forward to your tips and suggestions. |

| How Dee from Dallas. Scrolling for 20 years. You should be giving us hints and tips... Great to have you on board. I don't make any money scrolling but I sure have fun. But I am doing my first craft bazaar next month. Good luck with your business. You might think about a web site also. Food for thought.

| welcome to the site!!!! ya might wanna look into art shows and fairs that are juried.craft shows have a wal mart mentality shopper. DONT HAGGLE YOUR PRICE!!! would your customer be okay iffen the boss wanted him or her to work for $5 less an hour for a day as their work wasnt worth the higher price??? talk to your customers. take your saw with you if possible and set up and do some scrolling to show that your work is hand crafted. these tips are from a series of articles from jeff zaffino in s.sw.c. magazine. i would highly suggest gettin yer jhands on the series. very good stuff. not goin in lookin to get rich is a good way to start!! |

| Welcome to the board! There are a lot of us from MI here - where are you at in the state?
If you do some reading, there are some good threads on craft shows and displays.
As for what to make to make your fortune -the items need to be unique, well made, and well priced. When you figure it out, let me know - I promise to only tell a few others....

| I agree with Theresa--when you figure out how to make this small fortune, let me know too--I ll' keep it on the hush hush! Right now, for me anyway, I am finding here in Michigan that sales are not going that great at shows or in our shop. Still get the OOOHHS and AWWWS and the words 'great looking stuff' but the wallets stay in folks pockets!
Welcome to the board from another Michigander. Live up here in the northwest lower peninsula in the booming metropalis of Rapid City.

| Hi Terry,
Welcome to the site. I don't do craft shows or fairs, but my wife set up three shelves with projects on display at a local art crafters store. Definitely not looking to get rich. LOL
