Hi Amy!!
AS you look though the different threads you will find alot of information to get you started.Just remember we are all different , so different blades and methods work good for one person and not another .So try that different blade or method and see what works best for you .
If you have a question ask , don't be shy

David

Hi Amy, welcome to a great place with smart and outstanding people. I'm just south of you in North Carolina. What part of Virginia are you in? I know you probably will have hundreds of questions but no fear, someone here will have you the answers. If in doubt, ask. I hope you'll soon show us some of your work. Again, welcome, David

Hi Amy - I'm with Marshall - bite the bullet and go make dust and when you come across a problem shout. You'll find loads of help on this board

Welcome!

Hi guys, Haven't cut anything yet. Kind of leery, haven't done anything like this before. I really don't know where to start. I have a Craftsman 16" scroll saw. I just don't know what kind of wood to use or blades. Like I said, I'm really new at this, but it's something that really interests me. I've seen some beautiful things done with a scroll saw and I'd like to be able to do this.
