Hi everyone, I just registered today and I have a question for someone. Oh sorry my name is Joe and am from Bufalo NY. My question is I have a crafsman scroll saw and I broke the lower clamp assemply. This holds the blade in place, well I ordered a replacemet easy enough how hard could it be to fix. Now I have tried everything to get the pin out of this thing that attaches the part to the arm. I have tried applying heat used penetrating oil tried tapping it out I even tried drilling it out but broke the drill bit! Does anone have any suggestions? I know someones gonna say take it in to Sears for repair that is my last resort ......................Please help ....zip zippom2@yahoo.com |

Thanks Ramjet I think your right. I'm gonna have to press it out somehow. It's only about 3/4" long and approx. 3/16" in diameter. Where would I be able to get a tool to do that?........Thanks zip

| Joe : I also think that it is a small roll pin , I would find a machine shop . And I'm sure that they would have the right machinery to press this pin out right, and press the new one back in . Hope this helps !!!!!!! Marshall

Joe, my first large scroll saw was the Craftsman and I broke the same part. It is a roll pin, and I did use a press to get it out...and of course replaced the pin with a new one. Good luck

Hi Joe!! Some of the garages have press also you might want to try a c-clamp small socket on one end with a small punch(steel rod) to press it out David

If you have a vice and a C clamp you can press it out yourself . You may have to find a combination of a small socket and a small bolt to push out the pin . The vise is to hold the C clamp . This is assuming the part is off the saw . Lol Roger |

Zip, Welcome to the forum and as far as trying to get the roll pin out, you could try to find a small diameter punch to or a nail the correct size to put into the hole and drive it out with a hammer...good luck.
