| Gietting back into scroll sawing. Quite a few years ago, I did some scroll sawing. Recently my wife bought the fall issue of ScrollSaw magazine, so of course I got hooked. I wasn't aware of intarsia, and this takes this hobby to a different level.
I was a little aggresive on my first project, which is the carved fretwork tiger pattern, but I'll struggle thru it from time to time. It's time to get into new projects.
I have been going thru this site, and quickly was amazed at the talent of you people. I look forward to getting back into my favorite hobby, woodworking, and get to smell the aroma of wood again, its been a long time coming.
This is a a great site and I look forward to trying to be somewhat creative.
Have a good one

| Welcome Back, Pat: Good to hear that you are making sawdust with your scroll saw again. I agree with your approach to completing the carved fretwork tiger...I have given the same advice to other scrollers. When doing the carving, just take off a little waste wood at a time, going through the entire sequence and then, letting it rest. Repeat the process later. You can always take off more wood as it begins to shape up, but you can't put any back. My advice is to not try to take the tiger down to final levels with the first pass. Good luck, have fun, and a hearty welcome. Dick |

| I am my worst critic and when I get to a point where I am not sure what to do, I set the piece aside but where I can see it. Most times I will see what needs to be done next, it might take a day or a week but this works for me better than just plowing ahead and turning up with fire wood.

| Pat,
Welcome to the forum. I wish my wife would buy a woodworking magazine, she won't hardly let me buy them cause she knows that the wallet shrinks just days after I buy one...I hope you enjoy the forum as much as I do, it's been so much help in just a short time for me.

| You guys could try showing the other half what a safe magazine this is with so few adds. Most magazines start the first 2 pages with Grizzly tools, and go from there. I know it's lame but why not try?
