Default New Member from Michigan!

Hey everybody!

I just joined the board and I'm pumped!

I'm from Southern, Michigan, USA.

I am a (very) amateur wood carver/wood worker that has just bought his first scroll saw!

In fact it is still in the box! I just got it yesterday and just didn't have time to open it!

I'm very excited to see all the cool things that I can do with it! In fact, I think that I don't even understand all of the things that can be done it quite yet!

I got it to do my wood carving roughouts, but I have a feeling that it can do so much more!!!

I'm excited to be a part of the board! Thank you!

Welcome John, To me there is nothing amatuer about wood carving. I can follow lines, but to see something in a piece of wood and remove what you don't want seems amazing. Love to see pictures.

Welcome John, I'm sure you will learn there are many fun things you will learn to do with that New scroll saw. We would love to see some of your carvings as well.

Thanks everyone! You've all been great, as I expected you would!

I live in Southern Michigan about 1/2 hour from Ohio in a town called Tecumseh, which is quite near Adrian Michigan.

Yeah, the more I look at what some of you have made with Scrollsaws, the more I get pumped about using mine. I just have so many questions, and so dang little time! I have a 6/8/10 year old, so my time is quite split up between work, church and cub scouts/4H/Kid's sports! My time will come when I retire I think!

But between carving and scrolling, I have more money then time, and not much of either!

Very much looking forward to my first project, this forum, all of your help and getting my feet wet so to speak!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Thats great! Its nice to see you volunteer your time to helping out the scouts, 4H and things like that.Ive been a 4H woodworking leader, going on 12 years now, and although it takes a lot of time,it really is a lot of fun, and very satisfying! When your ready for answers (even maybe a useful one once in a while!!!), feel free to ask any questions that may arise!

Welcome from a fellow Michigander! (Live in Northern Michigan, between Kalkaska and Traverse City) You have found a great site with lots of neat people who are more than willing to help all of us in our endevors. Lot of neat stuff in here to learn, people to share patterns, ideas, tips etc with, all free of charge. Take what ya want and cut what ya take is my motto! LOL

I find by looking at others work in here, it drives me more and more to improve my skills as I get a bit green with envy at their work and this kicks in my own creative juices and causes me to try a bit harder for that "artistic" look and style exhibited by others.
