| New at this Hi all, I stumbled upon your wonderful site and I can't believe what I've seen. What a fantastic hobby. I've never done any of this, but want to start. I've done a lot of paper cutting but never used the scroll saw. So I will be checking all your posts in awe.

| Welcome to the site. You'll find a lot of advice and ideas here. Shoot, you will probably be able to use some of your paper cuttings to make patterns to scroll.

| Welcome indeed, and as others said, you can use your same patterns and try a different medium! If you can, post a few pictures of some of your papercuttings, some of them are truly amazing!

| Welcome Craftygal. Looks like paper cutting and scrolling are similar, just different mediums.

| Welcome from me too Craftygal,
I too am relatively new to scroll sawing, but I made a big mistake initially. My first scroll saw was a cheap one. I later found out it pays to ask questions before you buy. Be sure you get the best scroll saw you can afford the first time so you don't waste hard earned money on one that will not perform. I guess picking a saw would be like selecting a good pair of scissors. All scroll saws are not equal.
Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress.

| A lot of companies now have a 30 day return policy. So look to buy any tool with this in mind. With so many different types of scroll saws on the market you will find what some like, others laugh at. Research is very important, but it still comes down to what you like. I finally got my dream saw this year and after trying it,I took it back and got another Dewalt.
