I purchased Coyote Software better than a year ago. I've not been able to made anything with it that's usable. I shouldn't bash it as I'm not the best around with different software. I did do a bit of smashing by sending a e-mail to the editors of ScroolSaw Woodworking & Crafts about the add that Coyote had in the last issue of the magazine. Got a reply today from Bob Duncan, he explained that there's some of you on this board that use it very successful. I sure would like to get some help if thats possible. You can email me a drpepsi@bellsouth.net with coyote software in the subject line. I would be most thankful for any help. You'll have a great and blessed day Bill McAllister Florence SC drpepsi@bellsouth.net |

Welcome to the forum, Bill. Wouldn't it be better to discuss the operation of the software here in public rather than through private email? That way, all users of Coyote will benefit. Gill

Bill I have the Coyote software. I have used it on several pictures. It is easy to use but found it no quite what I would like on detail. I haven't tried any of the layer functions yet. But I found that if you make the picture Black & White and work with the contrast before importing it to Coyote there is an improvement in the detail. I have had it for over a year, but just started using it about two months ago. Still learning. I have found that if the picture has a busy background, like scenic pictures, I can not do much with it. But just peoples faces come out fairly well. I'm still new with it, wish I could help you more. ![]() I think Gill right about getting info public, will help others with similar problems.

I have used it on several portraits successfully. You have to remember, it will not turn your picture into a perfect template, It will give you a reasonable representation, with a little work. Hope this helps.

When I e-mailed Bill, I explained my theory on the software. Like everyone else here has said, it affords you nowhere near the control Gimp or Photoshop would, but it also produces a pattern almost automatically, which cuts down a lot of the work you put into a pattern using Gimp or Photoshop. Those of you with more experience with it...do you agree? Bob

I agree. It does indeed cut down on the work needed to prodice a good pattern. On occasion I have been able to use it alone but most of the time I do the majority of the pattern work on Coyote then export it to Paintshop and do the touchup and checking between the two I get the pattern done. DW |

I have Paint Shop Pro but have not tried to create a Scroll saw Pattern. What tools do you use? Importing a picture has to much detail that doesn't lend itself to a scroller's pattern. I would love to know how to get from a picture to a pattern.
