Pin blades have a small pin at right angels to the blade at each end. This is how some saws hold the blades. Most saws have an upper and lower clamp that holds the blade.
The difference comes when you drill a hole and insert the blade for an inside cut. Pin blades need a much bigger hole and some paterns will not allow that big a hole.
There seems to be a lot more choice of blades without the pin.
