Default Greetings--

Started sawing about four years ago--cutting Pinewood Derby cars for my son with a used Delta that has served me okay.

Last Christmas, I got ambitious and cut some ornaments as gifts and did okay and have done a few other little projects as time allowed. (My cutting is totally weather depentdant, since I work on the patio to keep the dust out of the house--and I don't have room in the garage!)

On a personal note, I am an amateur radio (ham) operator [KB9LEI] for the past 15 years and just wondering how many hams are out there with scroll saws that frequent this board.

Last semester, I was substitute teaching in an art class where the high school kids transferred a drawing toa piece of plywood and sketched and colored to match the original. I noticed one boy not doing anything and when I asked why he said his board was too big and he would have to wait on the regular teacher to cut it for him the next day.

Looked around the studio and there was a dual speed Delta in the corner! Needless to say, the student was disappointed when he couldn't just sit and talk to everyone else the rest of that class period after my spending 10 minutes on the saw.

Please bear with me as I'm going to have questions and sometimes they may even seem a little simplistic.

Jim,

1st of all Welcome to the Forum. There is a huge amount of knowledge here. The folks here are glad to help where they can. Feel free to ask questions.... you can't learn about something new if you never ask a question about it There are no stupid questions except the ones not asked.

Some of us have even been where you are ... out on the porch / patio doing our cutting. Of course as your addiction gets stronger you might find yourself thinking about building a small shelter so that you can scroll in more weather hehe. But in any case welcome

I think you may find a lot of hams here. They may not have anything to do with radios tho. Welcome aboard.
