| New Member Hi all,
I've just recently joined this forum (my first); have spent two days trying to figure out how to post in the "Introductions Forum"! lol I have to admit that my experience with a scroll saw is very limited; although I have worked with woodworking tools and machines for a number of years.
I love to do delicate and intricate work in wood, so I'm looking forward to the challenge of scroll sawing. I was so excited about getting started that I went out without much thinking and purchased an inexpensive saw from one of the "big box" stores. Not sure if that was a smart idea or not, but I'm having a ball trying to stay on the "line"! lol Not as easy as one might think.
Anyway, I'm excited and ready to Rock and Scroll! Now all I need is a little of all that knowledge you all possess. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions. |

| Thanks to Steve, ajay, George, Honeycow, Bob and Evie for your nice welcome to the forum.
Steve,...the brand I purchased was "Task Force" from Lowes. It's a 16" variable speed saw. Now that I've done some research (after the fact), finding that there's an allen screw to disconnect the blade actually means something to me now! I can already see the advantage of a quick disconnect blade. But, I'll do what I can for now and probably upgrade sometime in the future. Again, thanks for the welcome.

| Hi Mike, I am not familiar with that saw but you may be able to get a conversion kit to quick disconnect blade holders for that saw if you do a little research. I would stay with a variable speed no matter what saw I got. For me that is a must have. You are on your way to a new addiction. Have fun at it. Steve |

| Welcome Mikej. Dont let the allen wrench thing get in your way from enjoying the scrolling addiction. Even with the allen wrench you will get quicker the more you use it.If later on you feel like this is something you really enjoy, and you purchase a different saw, you will appreciate all the little bells and whistles more, and you will know what they are for. For now, just gain experience. Once you understand how the blade chases through wood, and guiding your line where its supposed to be, you will realize its not really all that hard after all, its like anything else, the more you do it, the easier it becomes. And remember.....we have all made the mistakes, its nothing unique to just you!! Welcome to the addiction and the message board. As Stevie mentioned, there may be a quick release retrofit kit for your saw.Hopefully someone will post a link that may have it. Dale |
