Hello,

I joined this forum in order to pass along a finding I made while looking up scroll patterns on the web.

I am an avid RC hobbiest and was looking for airplane related projects when I found your sites plans for the P51 Mustang Whirligig. (Neat)

Anyway...I want to bring it to the sites attention that these plans are being sold on ebay!

The link to the auction is:

????? - Scroll Saw Plans To BUILD Airplane Whirligig Lawn Prop - EBAYSHOPPING

Hi John -
Bob probably is off work by now, but I'm sure he will check in the morning.

In the mean time - what language was the auction in? I clicked the link and got what looks like Chinese !
Paul Meisel is the one you need to let know - he is the designer.

BTW - welcome!
Theresa

Hello Theresa,

I do not know how to contact Mr. Meisel so I hope someone can assist with notifying him.

The page is in Chinese but the auction is hosted by Ebay so Ebay should be able to assist if needed.

The seller has even copied all of the pictures from this site and placed their water mark over the photo's to show the photo's belong to them. Funniest part is they copied the picture showing the designer as Mr Meisel!

I usually don't join forums but this just burns me to see someone using another persons work to make a buck and I feel the designer should be told. If Mr. Meisel has authorized the use of his design then Great! but if he has no knowledge of this then GRRRRR.

Thanks for your time and for welcoming me to the site.. I'll stick around for a while....lol

Here is a different link to the auction that may be a bit easier to follow...lol

Go to eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices and enter Item Number: 180232277075 or look up the seller misterrecovery_2007

Now that I can read the actual text (yeah English), I see that the seller states they ARE Paul Meisel. If so, sorry for the confusion/Banter Paul!

On the first auction, I followed a link that showed a picture of the sellers family, and he called himself Steve......
I did email the Meisel company and let them know about the auction.

Thank you John for watching out for whats right.I have on numerous occasions contacted designers to point out their patterns being copied and sold on ebay. There is still at least one other seller on ebay that still does this regularly, even after being contacted by at least three designers of the originals. In that case...their time is coming, and with the three pooling their money for a lawyer, things might change for that individual. Thank you all and you are welcome.

As I said in post 1, I am an avid RC plane guy but I am also going to be giving this scrollsaw thing a go...lol..I have just started scrollsawing as a hobby and only have an old-OLD used dremel saw that was my dads. It is a pinned blade saw that seems to struggle through balsa but It works and I am actually finding this fun. Though I need to find the right equipment, from what I can tell, I already have found the best place to start!

Peace!

John A.

Hey John,
Welcome! Are you using your scroll saw to build parts for your planes? I got a scroll saw for my birthday one year because I wanted to build wooden model ships (old sailing vessels). It was a Dremel by the way. While I have finished a few projects since then I still have not built a ship . . .
