Default Tune up for a DeWalt DW788

I've had my DeWalt for around 15 years and it still works great. However, I am wondering if there is a general "tune up" that should be done periodically to keep the saw in top condition. For example, 1) the tension lever seems to be slipping somewhat as if a surface is wearing out and,2) every so often as I lift the upper arm for blade changes it seems to stick and needs to be lifted a few times before it releases and can be moved all the way up to its stop.
Any ideas? Thanks, Dave Penman

Hi Dave, I don't know of any specific tune up for the DW788, but I can help you out with your tension problem. I had the same issue, you can read about it here, DW788 Woes and also find the solution. It was a very cheap fix, as you'll find reading through the attached post.

I also have problems lifting the arm, but I've never found a cure for that problem.
Rick Hutchinson has a very good site and can answer alot of guestions regarding the DW788.
Hope this helps, and welcome to the forum
Marsha

David
I too have the lifting problem sometimes. When this happens I just turn the speed down all the way and "bump" the on/off switch so the saw strokes up and down a little. Then the arm will raise up. I do a lot of fret work so the upper arm gets a work out of lifting, (not to mention my left arm. LOL) I would guess this lifting problem happens about 10% of the time.
I hope this makes sense.
