| G'day from Australia Just became a member today. Been interested in scrolling for a number of years but didnt have much time. Love intarsia works, have made afew dolphins. My father a keen fisherperson once ask me to make him an intarsia barramundi, so i made a small one, his response "it's undersize", he was only kidding but with that i weent home enlarged the pattern and made him one just over legal length, from memory 58cms (approx. 23 inches). That will teach him. Look forward to being a part of your community. Can anyone tell me if the subscription cost to SSWC is payable by paypal. |

| Welcome lumberjack. You picked a good bunch to sign up with. Lots of information here on any scrollsawing topic you can think of, and if you can't find what you are looking for, just ask and you will get lots of help. What section of Australia are you from.

| G'day Joe,
Welcome aboard mate. Good to see a fellow countryman here.
Let's know what timber you scroll. In the West the only ones I've found that scroll reasonably well are Pine and Tassie Oak, Jarrah does OK, but it's to to bloody hard and tends to burn. |

| Thanks everyone. I am from Rockhampton Queensland, about as far away from Kalgoorlie as you can be. I use pine also, back when I first tried intarsia thats all I could afford, so I used to cut all the pieces and then stain the darker ones ( cheating I know, but my boss at the time would let me take any small amounts of stains home). Havent done any for quite a few years, but am looking forward to trying as many different timbers as I can. |
