Default I don't have a clue

I hope this is the right place to post. I'm new to the scrolling art and need all the help I can get. I'm very interested in learning to create a patter of my grandaughter's cat to do an intarsia project. Being new to this I'm not sure if it is something I can handle or not. Any suggestions?

Welcome Fishing Bum. This is a great group and I am sure someone might be able to help. Regardless I know you are getting into a great hobby and will learn a lot here.

Howdy Here is a good place to start with intarsia http://intarsia.net/ There is a free E-book to help you learn the basics.

I'd also like to recommend the Intarsia Workbook by Judy Gale Roberts, a book I found very helpful.

A few steps, there are lots more:

1st get a digital photo into your computer, and alter the photo to your liking with your favorite photo edit software.

2nd get a software program that will convert the digital photo into a pattern. Some like software from this site which was designed for stain glass windows: http://sgdesigns.com/designer.php
free software trail download is available.
(there are other software packages, including high end photo edit applications which have a HUGE learning curve.)

3rd, browse and select the the wood you want to use, which usually won't fit your first choice of color range, so go searching for more wood, and spend more money, and then, change you mind again, and buy some more wood....... {continue until someone stops you!!}

Others can help you beyond this point.
