Default Old dog trying new tricks

Hi folks,
First time on a message board, just bought a used Dremel Scroll Saw and I think it's going to be fun. Never used one before so I have some questions. This saw takes only pinned blades but adapters are available for pinless blades. Question is do I need those adapters or can I do everything with pinned blades.
Thanks for the help. Old dog trying new tricks, Jasper

Welcome to the best scroll saw forum on the internet. You will notice the friendly family-like nature of the scroll saw community.

You will find that to do intricate inside cuts you cannot use pin-end blades. Once you start doing more inside cuts you will also want to be able to quickly change blades.

Most of all have fun! There are many different things you can do with a scroll saw from cutting simple outlines to fretwork to inlays to segmentation.

Hi Jasper, welcome to the family and new addiction. You will be very limited to what size inside cuts that you can make with pinned end blades. I honestly think that you would be more satisfied with what you will be able to do if you get the conversion kit for your saw. If it is a quick change system all the better. As Ed said, have fun. Show us some photos of your work also we do like pictures. Any problems along the way just fire away with them and someone is sure to walk you through. Again Welcome, Steve

G'day Jasper and welcome.
Like Ed and Steve said, you can use pinned blades but the novelty soon wears of when you want to do some fine work.
Have fun

Welcome Jasper! I have to go along with everyone else, the pinned blades will definitely restrict your ability to do finer scroll work. I would definitely invest in the adapters. As they say in here, once you get bitten by the scroll bug there'll be no stoppin you.
