Hey Tafiore,

Check on Ebay, here is one that I found, it's actually the same one I have, and it works great.

I used to have that problem, my solution was to get as much bright clear WHITE light on the area I was cutting and use one of those magnifying glass headbands. Mine magnifies 2x but others I have seen were able to do x4 or more. The wearable one that I got was less than $40.

Remmember you get what you pay for. I tried one of the smaller (cheaper)
magnifiers. It had such a small focus area I was constantly getting headaches. Also the quality of the lense was poor.
I ended up with a Ring lamp magnifier that had a broken casting that I replaced. But then again for 14 dollars it is worth a try, it may work for you.

Hi Tafiore,

I use a headband type magnifier made by general tool they also make scribes, small rulers, etc. I picked mine up at the hardware store. I can't remember if its 2x or 3x, it works well for me. I try to do most of my cutting by daylight, the more the better. I need to invest in a good work light for the evenings.

As for the light part that was mentioned, absolutely get just about all the light you can get. I once read that bench jewelery requires about twice as much light as most work. I would think that scrollwork would be at least somewhere in the middle, if not right up there.

You can get the magnifier glass and swing arm light at A.C. Moore and/or Michael's for about $20 bucks. That's where I got mine. David

Default Lamp

I use a magnifier lamp that attaches to my saw. If you are using a Hawk, check their site, otherwise, you will need to shop around but make sure you get a good one and don't get it to close to your saw. I had a blade break and when the top arm came up it broke the fluorescent bulb. What a fine mess that was!
