Hi! Just started and some day i will get the hang of the forum. I've been playing with the scrollsaw for a little but like to spend more time with it in the next year or. I plan to retire and make it my hobbie.

My Grandmother was 100yrs young on the 4th of September and wants me to make her a scrolled and framed picture of " Home Sweet Home ".

Could someone help me with this

Thank you Alvin

Welcome Alvin,
I don't have a pattern for you, but wanted to welcome you go the group. Do a google search on "Home Sweet Home" and Scrollsaw and you should find something.

Hello.
New member since August. Computer illiterate, and just now learning how to post. I've been scrolling off and on for 15 years. Mostly hobby. Christmas and such. I retired in August and I am doing more scrolling. I have no aptitude for woodworking, but I can follow a line with a scrollsaw blade. If it has to be square, forget it, although I'm learning how since retiring. I'm making a shop inside a pole barn I own. Framing and insulating a 36 x 35 area. I have lots of questions to ask and I plan to read as many posts as possible now that I have learned to login. Looking forward to being a member.
First question. Where can I buy Baltic Birch plywood (Russian B/BB or BB/B, whichever) wholesale? 1/8 & 1/4 inch.
Chief

Try Sloans Chief, they may give a discount if you order by the pallet. I did find a few places online to buy it in bluk, but bulk to me, and bulk to them were two totally different amountd. We are talking skids and skids of it. Dale

Alvin and Bobby:

Both of you, a warm Welcome. I hope you come back often and enjoy your visits.

Alvin:
Sorry cannot help with a pattern. Were you looking for a wall placque with the letters cut out of the background?

Bobby:

There must be a real lumber yard near you. Just go and ask if you can special order Baltic Birch or Apple Ply from them. It took me three lumber yards to find a salesman willing to do special orders. IIRC, he pulled out 4 books from whole sellers and only two whole sellers carried BB plywood. (No one would sell me ApplyPly plywood from Oregon, furniture makers and cabinet shops only.)

The next time I went to a fourth lumber yard, and they would only sell to me if I went to the whole seller to pick up the order (otherwise there was a minimum purchase to cover trucking.) Let them know you might be able to pick up from the whole seller, if they are willing to let you. But then again, just how many miles are you willing to go?

Then I tried

The 5th lumber yard only charged me a few dollars per sheet over the previous place. I am still using the lumber from that trip.
