| hey all. hey all. it's nice to find a forum that has a lot of topics and is used a lot. i've been scrolling fer about 3 years now. tore up a craftsman s.s. rather quickly and now have a dewalt. love it!!!! i personally dont own a band saw, as i can make any cut i need ( so far) with the s.s. i have done quite a bit of scrolling. i do all kinds of woodworking, but always end up back at the scrollsaw.my current project is the dome clock from winfield. i am building it to have a complete dome and am havin a riot with it. i talked to a friend of mine yesterday who's an electronics genius and he wants to wire it for the lights. got me thinkin about making a chandalier. also a staircase to the second floor. i have quite a bit of time in it already, as i have to add stuff. the first floor has 1/4 by 1/2 cherry flooring with walnut medallions inlayed. and i cant just run the flooring straight across. OOOHHHH !!!!!too easy. gotta make it so theres a bajillion cuts!!! i think i'll have quite a bit of time in it, but worth it. only problem is, it's 6 below out right now, and a little too cold to go out in the shop. one thing i will share though is the therapeutic aspect of scrolling. i have battled a serious case of melanoma( skin cancer) for 16 months and the scroll saw is a great way for me to stop and smell the dust!!!!LOL!! it's good therapy.. so hope to type to ya. i gotta go post in the finishing forum. |

| Welcome to the group. Take some "in the works" pictures of your clock, especially if you decide to do the extra additions with the lights. Can't wait to see it.
This is a great place to share ideas and ask for any assistance.
And yes, the scroll saw is a great therapy for when the tough stuff is happening. Congrats on getting through your battle.

| G'day Tomsteve,
Stay around for a bit and you won't be able to leave. There's an extremely nice group of people here who are very talented. The best part is they have no secrets. Just ask and you shall be told
Put up some pics of your clock, it'd be good to see.
Oh and Welcome. |
