Default new member intro kind of I guess.

I work mainly making full size picture frames for my wife who does portrait embroidery, so I am not really a wood worker. She started embroidery at nine years old. She worked mainly with kits but finally progressed to doing the portrait embroidery which she started showing in public venues. She never liked store frames and so I started wood working as it were.... and now I am going to try scrolling and find a way to add this to my picture frames. And there is my intro in a nut shell as it were. Thank you for letting me be a part of "real" wood workers!

Thank you all very much for the warm welcome! TO stevebuk, I thank you for the interest but as the work is adult in nature I do not think I will post the web site. Hate to get banned on my first day! :-)

Now that is a great way to get started. and so glad you are hear. I do alot of embroidery as well. and my hubby makes my fraims. for I need them deep so not to touch the embroidery. that is not easy. I would love to see her work. and yours for sure. glad you are hear. this embroidery is not the same as what you say your wifes is. I am a ameture in that fild. but the fraim, is only 4 sides, with a grove for the front glass. and the embroidery sets back about 1-1/2" inches. the bevale cut was still a 45 but on a jig. so to speek. mmm see if I can do this. first you take a 1x4. whitch is really a 3/4x3-1/2" bord. longer than the Hideth, of you fraim. and width.times 2. or one long board for the whole fraim.Of your favorite wood. I did mine in oak. I like to do it in one long piece. give room for your kerf cuts. heck longer than snake snot. then set your table saw up . set your blade to cut a 45. then your fence at 2-3/4' wide from the in side of your blade. lay your board down. and cut the first cut. then turn the whole board around. ((Turn it over)). lay the edge against the fence, and take a second cut. this will give you the bevale for the debt of the fraim. then put that aside. get a 2x4 and cut it on the edges. at a 45. but, after turning it around to cut the other side. DONT turn it over. to cut the other side. the lingth can be only the width of your chop saw or miter saw or less. then go to your chop saw. or miter saw. set the blade to cut a 45. then lay the 2x4 at 45 to fence and table. now get your boards. and place them against the 2x4 which is at a 45 from table to fence. now you need to figure out how long you wish you fraim to be. and cut the first cut. then mesure down and past the lingth and with. and cut all 4 pieces. give your self lots of room. then turn you chop saw. or miter. at the opsit 45. now you have 4 peices. mesure the back of the miter. where the embroider goes. and cut out side in. on the saw. still leaning into the 2x4. is this a hard one or what. Oh dang forgot the grove for the glass.
before you go to the chop saw. go back to the table saw. and cut the grove for the glass. dratssorry new year left over. LOL. after cutting the boards on their 45s. just lay your board down. set your fence 2-1/2" from fence to far side of blade. still at a 45 with a regular blade. LOWER the blade to cut a 1/4" deep cut. this will cut your grove for the glass. whuuuuu. Dang, If you got all this, I am amazed. to put the glass or plexie in. do that first. then glue it together. for its not coming apart. you can also grove the back to put you embroidery in. this is one of the hardest fraims ever. picture of fraim and embroidery

all I realy wonted to do was welcome you to the group. hope this helped. your new friend Evie
