Welcome. Haven't tried puzzles myself, but it is on my to do list. Follow the link posted by Phil. He has directed you to the best place for answers to your question. Anyway, when you get the hang of it be sure to post some pictures. We would love to see what you create.

I have cut several jigsaw puzzles and it was Carter that got me started with them with all of his excellent help .

For most color line cutting, as Carter recommends, the finish is applied before cutting, and allowed to cure for at least two days. More won't hurt. The finish protects the graphic from your handling of the puzzle during the cutting. Also, sawdust is not good for the graphic either.

When using a very narrow blade, the kerf cut space between the two pieces of wood, will be too narrow for any finish that may overspill into the sides of the pieces. The finish will interfere with the fit of the puzzle if applied after the cutting.
