Hi everyone,

Just joined and wanted to introduce myself, been scrolling on and off for 20 years or more and now with more time on my hands i'm hoping to do a lot more, and i'm sure i will be able to learn a whole host of new stuff from all you good folk here..

My machine is an old Walker-Turner 700 series, might be old but still does a good job.

Hi C.Pisky, Welcome to the group and hope to hear more from a fellow 'Brit'. Doesn't seem many of us but the knowledge and support here is 2nd. to none. I'm a total novice without a saw but even so I'm learning alot prior to finally locating a saw etc..
We all look forward to viewing some of your work both old and new!!
Good luck.

Hi Paul, thanks for the welcome, scrollings not as popular in the UK as it is in the US thats probably why not too many Brits here, don't be tempted by the many cheap saws that you find on Ebay, go for a good quality saw, cost you more initially but well worth the extra expense, i'm not saying the cheap saws won't do the job, they will, but they are usually awkward to change blades and set the tension and they tend to vibrate a lot, Hegner are considered to be one of the best in the world, but at a price, others to look at are Diamond, Rexon, Delta, Axminster all seem to get pretty good reviews, i started with a hand Fretsaw, my first powered saw was a cheap Clarke (lesson learned) my present saw the Walker-Turner is a old industrial saw, 50 or 60 years old, wasn't in the best of health when i got it but once i set it up to suit me i found it to be a nice saw to use, not as quick as some of the modern saws to change blades on though.
Best of luck and Happy New Year
