Hi to everyone,
I am a total beginner and don't own any equipment but was inspired by some of the artwork seen on the internet. I have done woodworking in the past and see this craft as an opportunity to resume woodworking.
I now need to buy a scroll saw and get as much local info as possible.
All offers of help will be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Paul. I am especially pleased to read your post, and that you were inspired by some of the artwork you seen on the internet.

There is a good deal of information on the forum archives on selecting saws and equipment. If you have time, use the Search feature and it will provide you with ample reading material to help you.

Otherwise, simply ask. There are many opinions on blades, saws, and the extras .... but trying out what works best for you is the most important. If there are woodshows or equipment stores near you, go and test drive the saw before purchasing.

Again, welcome. I look forward to your contributions to our group.

Take care
Toni

Default Welcome

Sounds like you have bitten by the infamous Scrollsawyer Bug! Got bit by this myself last year and it has burrowed right into my hide without a cure in sight but I sure ain't whining---only bug I have found that brings me so much enjoyment. Once bitten, the only tonic that provides relief is a chunk of wood, an idea and a saw to make the idea a reality! If the finished product is not exactly as what you had pictured it to be, so what I figure, wood grows on trees and if all else fails I have what many here refer to as a piece of "artistic kindling".

Anyway welcome to a great site from another newbie!

Merry Christmas Pat
