Well I finally decided to make the plunge and actually join the forums here. I have been reading it for quite some time now and think it is GREAT! I want to thank all of you that post your photos, tips, suggestions and ideas that I so need. A lot of the work I envy but give me time as it just gets better as I learn more.

I have been doing scroll sawing for a little over a year now. Started out doing a few toys and puzzles to sell at craft shows and wound up like so many here addicted to making sawdust! Am now doing a wide range of stuff, (In other words if a pattern catches my eye--it's off to the saw). clocks, fretwork, animal plaques. plates etc. But the puzzles I do from the books by Dave and June Peterson continue to be the real hot items.

Started out with a Dremel which was paid for at my first show. This year I upgraded to a Dewalt which once again has paid for itself. Did no shows this year but the wife took some shots of my work into her place of employment and things snowballed from there. Stuck a sign out by the driveway for the Christmas season and people are FLOCKING in and buying.

The wife is an artist and we planned on setting her up with a studio/gift shop next year and now it looks as tho a big part of it will be devoted to yours truly and his work. We will be locating in an area of Northern Michigan which is quite a tourist destination so hopefully it will be a profitable endeavor. As a retiree, I have the time and the wife's blessing to make little pieces of what I call artwork out of big pieces of wood. Please don't ask me to post any pictures as you are talking to a real novice at computers too!

Ok I rambled on here long enough but once again THANK YOU to all on this forum. Trust me, I will post now and then (mostly questions to pick the brains of those of you who are more knowledgable when it comes to this great hobby.) and may even attempt to learn how to post some picts!

Welcome Pat! You sound excited and enthusiastic about all things scrolling. That's wonderful. May you and your artistic wife do very well in Northern Michigan.

With your success in sales, perhaps you'd like to share some of your knowledge with others here. In any event, I look forward to hearing more from you in the future.

Glad you found us.
Take care
Toni
