| I'm a new member I just got reintroduced to scrolling this past week and dug out my
Ryobi SC 165 VS. I think I am going to have some fun with my scroll saw this winter. First thing I did was order some new blades (Flying Dutchman).
The fellow that got me going on scrolling gave me a few new blades. Right now I'm fighting tension adjustment on these blades but hope to have it figured out soon. I'm making practice cuts following a line drawn on some 1/4" plywood. I did put clear packing tape on the wood with good results (good tip I read about here). I'll be lurking here reading as much as I can, trying to find the direction I want to take with this new interest.

| Hi Will,
The tensioning problem I'm having is;
when I tighten the blade to get 1/8" deflection and a good ping when i pluck it, it comes loose from the bottom clamp. The blade is new, not sure of the size. I have new blades ordered that I will keep size Info. on their containers. I haven't broken the blade yet, maybe I need more tension but I think that would make my popping out of the bottom clamp worse. I just got back from the local library and checked out the New Scroll Saw Handbook and Scroll Saw Fundamentals the complete guide. I'll do some reading to see if I can find an answer to my blade coming free of the clamp.
Thanks for asking me about my problem. As a nubee I'm sure I'll have more.
It's kind of fun to be new at something at my age.

| Welcome Fly boy !
Take your time and look around lots of info and if you not sure ask .
For your blade problem ; take the screw out that holds the blade in file it flat . also take a piece of sand paper on the end of the blade getting any oil and roughing it up some might help
You still haveing a problem make another post like in beginners or even advanced scroll saw section surely will get you some help
