Smile Hello Lancashire UK

Hello to you all this looks like a nice forum.
My name is Geoff and live in Lancashire UK.
I have been scrolling for about 3 years.
I am a keen woodturner and have a lathe in my shop.
I have two scroll saws a diamond 25"uk made and a delta 40-560.
I am very lucky to work as a gardener in a very nice 160-acre public park
and come a cross all kinds of Timber in the woods i take it home and dry it.
Some of it is spalted beech .
Regards Geoff.

Geoff:

Welcome! I hope you enjoy your visits.

BTW:

Since you are a Brit, and you name is Geoff , pronounced like Americanized "Jeff", do you have any theory or thoughts on why the language shift occurred? American English speakers sometimes cannot figure out how to pronounce you name. Yet, the GE from George everyone knows is pronounced as a "J". Just curious.

Welcome.

Phil

Spalted beech? Very nice .

I've just returned home after picking up a Diamond that was recently auctioned on eBay. I haven't had a chance to test it yet because I wanted to take a few minutes out after spending an afternoon driving on the M40, M42 and M6. Not fun! The saw doesn't look pretty but it only cost £28 ($57 US)... .

What sort of things do you like to scroll, Geoff?

Gill (whose name also confuses some friends across the Pond )

Hi there Geoff, welcome to the forum. I too am a gardoner, but only at home. but its a hand full. with 180 trees. and 1/4 acer of food gardon. I don't get to use much of the wood for scrolling but the tree trimmings make great fire wood, whitch I use for winter heat. I would love to see your work also. I live in Caifornia, USA. glad you are here.

So, who was it that sniped me? With two minutes to go, the highest bid stood at £21, then someone started sniping. Still, I mustn't grumble - the saw needs a bit of cleaning but it works just fine. In fact, it has to be the best £28 I've ever spent on eBay. I returned home via Good Timber in Nether Heyford which is always a good diversion even if it often proves to be an expensive one . Sadly, all I needed was some acrylic lacquer but it was still nice to browse round the store.

Yes, Geoff, I now have 3 Diamonds (plus various other scroll saws ). I don't really have room to keep them all but I'm just incapable of passing up a bargain! My hubby doesn't mind; he says some women collect shoes, some collect teapots, but not many guys have a missus who collects scroll saws!

Gill
