Default Info on Hitachi Model CW40

Hello!

We're brand new to scroll-sawing, and are trying to decide between the Hitachi CW40 (available locally at my homecenter) and the Dremel 1800 Scrollstation, so-named (I guess) because they hooked up a small disc sander and flex shaft axle to the side of theirs...

I know that both aren't the most expensive, but we are on a rather tight budget these days...

Does anyone have a strong preference for either of these models?

Thanks!

Welcome to the board.

I started scrolling with a Dremel (model 1860???). I still have it and use it from time to time. It was a great starter machine for me. I even had a problem while under warranty. Dremel had great customer service. A real plus these days.

I do not have any info on the Hitachi scroll saw. Sorry.

I'm not sure if it's the same model or not but I've seen a Hitachi at Lowe's. It looks surprizing similar to my Craftsman 16" VS. Right down to the built it blade holder in the left rear of the chassis. Even the table tilt mechanism looks the same. If it's build like my Craftsman, I've been pretty pleased with mine considering it's an inexpensive saw, I'd go Hitachi.
