| Time I stop being a newbie Hi everyone.
I am retired and have 3 wood hobbies, woodturning, woodcarving and lastly scrolling, and when possible I try to combine them.
I do my hobbies in my basement shop in our condo in London, Ontario. My turnings are small on a Taig lathe, my carvings are generally birds, and my scrolling is on a DeWalt.
With the Christmas craft shows underway I sell some of my wares to keep my hobbies self supporting to buy supplies, tools and take a few courses.
My biggest sales this year have come from tree decorations and Scandanavian bookmarks. My decorations all run about 3.5 - 4" diameter and are made from 1?8" hardwoods (cherry, oak, maple and walnut) and have proven very popular, particularly those using Paul Volker patterns.
The bookmarks are steady sellers and are made from 1/32" baltic birch 3 ply plywood.
I am currently looking for a couple of patterns for the "yin and yang" symbol and a "Star of David". Any suggestions?

| Bob,
What style pattern are you looking for? Also, do you want a simple yin/yang, or something with additional design elements?

| Hi Bruce,
Just a simple one.
I was fooling around with Word and actually found one in the wingdings font that blows up to good size (4" Dia).
I will do the black in walnut and the white in maple, drill out the circles and turn a perfect plug to fit same.
Also found a Star of David in the same word font and will do it in cherry.
Since the font is "true type" if enlarges without the "jaggies".

| Bob,
If you are good to go with what you found, excellent. If not, I can put something together in about 15 minutes and send it to you tonight.

| Greeting Bob ... all the way from Ridgetown Ontario. LOL Howdy and how do neighbor? Glad to see you found this site. One of these days during my travels we'll have to figure out a way to meet up. I'm in dreadful need of some edumication on working with a lathe. I'll have to remind myself to see what I might be able to come up with for patterns for you.
