Default craft show

Hi I just want to vent: Just finished doing a craft show on sat. and it was a disaster, just made what it cost me for a space big O.People are not buying, they say nice work, you must have spent a lot of time on them, or the famious saying,o I will stop back, which they don't.Same old same old.Even christmas ornaments didn't sell, then again maybe its to early. So I guess I'll have to chalk it up as experience, maybe the next one will be better. We've all been there! Just think - you will have lots of stock for your next one!!

G'day Edward,
It's a Bugger, but as Betty says, you'll have plenty of stock for next time.
Buying trends are a funny thing!
Some times at the monthly markets I'll have a run on a certain object and other times I may take the same pieces backwards and forward for a couple of months and not sell any.
One thing that is sure to happen though, is if you don't take a certain piece, you'll get people asking for it

regards
John

I had a craft fair the week before with exactly the same results. I feel your pain. It is a bit early for most folks to be in the Christmas spirit. You have your inventory so you are ready for your next show. Just don't give up.

As was said, it happens to all of us. At least you made your booth back. I had one in June where I didn't even do that much (needless to say I won't be doing that one again).

My first show of the fall season was down about a third. Still made mt goal, though. Have four more to go. We'll see if the trend continues.

Met a lot of great folks during the weekend and got my ego stroked. See - - - not all bad.

Too bad, Ed. Gave some of my cuttings to daughter for an event some months ago. Lots of compliments on my work but no buyers. Experience hurts sometimes but don't give up.

Sorry to hear that, Ed. Better luck next time.
I am preparing for my first craft show in November and haven't set any goals just hoping to sell some stuff and get people looking. Fortunately the entry fee was cheap so I won't need to sell much to make that back.

Ed,
There you are you are a member of a large club of people that do craft shows. You are among some of the best crafters that didn’t make a lot of sells. You can’t take it personal. You did get a lot of nice complements, and you have your inventory for the next show.
When I did craft shows I plan not to make any sells. I plan on making a lot of friends because people like to buy from people they like. I would spend time hearing people that visit my booth, finding out what they like. If there where something that I could make for them.
That is why I say go and have a fun time.

My first show was dead. Great show but no customers. I took the opportunity to talk to many other vendors and learned a lot from them, not to mention make some great friends. We've concentrated on fewer, more high end shows this year and sometimes even that doesnt' make a difference. Some of my "best" shows are small and just have the right people for buying. Bigger ones have more people, but usually more vendors too so there's more competition for that buck they have in their wallet.
