Default Seymour Pumpkin Festival (Connecticut)

Just a short note for anyone in the area this weekend. The Seymour Pumpkin Festival will be being held this Sunday (9/21) at French Memorial Park in Seymour, CT. The event is typically attended by 30 - 50 thousand people which is pretty amazing considering that the population of Seymour is only 15,000. Approximately 130 artists and crafters will be there hawking their wares (which I'm one of, hehehe). If you have the opportunity, I'm in spot 147, right next to the fudge place and basketball court.

Good Luck Kevin! (I still can't believe that many people would go to Seymour!!)
Hope you sell out. (and don't spend all your profits at the fudge place)

I checked to see how far away it is from me...2.5 hour drive each way. A bit too far for me. Oh well...

Sounds like great fun~good luck with your sales.

Looks like a beautiful weekend for a sale, mid 70's and dry. Hope you have no scrollwork left to bring home with you. Unfortunately we can't make it due to double birthday party time on Sunday for a friends grandchildren and it's our job to bring our granddaughter.

You should be kind of safe from the fudge place unless it is one of those making fudge there on the spot. Then the sights and the smells, oh I'd gain 50lbs over a weekend next to one of those! I loved the fudge place up in York UK, yummy.

Kevin, now that I've come back to the post, hope you kick behind on sales this weekend. Maybe this can lead to a few commissions and more business.

Default Results - The Day After

All in all, it ended up being a pretty mediocre outing. Dollar wise, I did ok (only about $700) but the number of actual pieces sold was down 2 thirds from last year. Fortunately I had a couple of customers come through and spend a few hundred dollars each otherwise the day would've been a complete bust. I was surprised that only 1 of the rattlin' bones sold as I thought these would go over well. As usual, most of the boxes I made in the past 2 weeks sold (I think I have 2 left). In the future, I will be greatly expanding my selection of boxes and concentrating on making different types. In talking with other crafters, sales were generally down for everyone. I did buy a new wallet and of course a couple pounds of fudge.
I had quite a few folks asking about custom work which I tend to avoid. I finally told someone that it would be $275 for a custom portrait of his dogs just to make him go away. He gave me a $150 deposit, ugh! I hate doing custom work.
Anyhow, I've attached several pictures of my booth (remember, this is a halloween theme show) and the event.
