Fantastic magazine, I love it! I wanted to make sure that I didn't miss an issue. I only wish that it came out more often... Continue

Hi Janette: Thanks for sharing. There is certainly some beautiful work being done as evidence by your photo's. For me, I fell in love with that canoe. I'd love to be able to craft something like that. Looks like I'd need a deeper throat than 21" to swing that puppy around with my saw ; )

I am a little late jumping into this thread but I was wondering if you display the multiple magazine articles in your booth?
There certainly were some amazing pieces in that very eclectic show.
Your work has always been very impressive so I am not surprised you did so well.
It is a shame I am at the other side of the states i would love to see your work in person.

Rolf, I have all the magazines on my table (open to the right page of course!) At the last show, I was able to display the finished piece with the actual magazine article beside it - which is always cool! Now if I can only figure out why I've been getting rejection notices from some of the art shows I'm applying to One I did last year rejected me this year. Kevin was rejected last year and this year he's on the waiting list...go figure!

Well I have a few ideas:
1. They are snooty people that can not accept anything that doesn't fit into their concept of "Art".
2. They are intimidated by the beauty of your work.!
I guesss some people look at things that are made from wood with a different perspective.

There is a huge art show in PA every year. From what I understand they get over a 1000 applications and only accept 170 (limited Space) They have to decide who gets to come and if they don't understand the concept of Intarsia it probably would not be selected..
You may be in a similar situation.

We have a local Art association that just had their annual show. I approached them about possible presenting some of my work. They asked me to join their organization. from what I see thay are "medium" friendly, meaning they appreciate all forms of art.

Did they at least have the curtesy to tell you why they rejected you this year?

Janette, I am sort of new to the forum but not to the art of scrolling - You do wonderful and beautiful work - if you ever get out to the south east I hope to see you in a show - I haven't tried my hand at Intarsia yet but I hope one day I will get the nerve up to do it - Again great work

Thanks for the encouragement. One of the shows I was rejected from invited me last year...go figure. My hubby had a good response for me when I told him..."Morons". oh well, can't do all of them! We've been trying to do more high end shows since my stuff ain't cheap and I understand some of them take a couple years to get into. I did get accpeted into a nice local one for 4th of July weekend - no hotel expenses which is nice and it coincides with the Olympic Track and Field trials here in Eugene. Hopefully it will draw some of the overflow from the event.
