Airbrush Compressor? - Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Message Board

Does anyone know if an airbrush compressor would put out enough velocity to blow dust out of fretwork projects? I've been using canned air, but it doesn't have much output and is only good for short bursts. I don't relish the idea of running outside and turning on the big compressor for just a small thing.

Just about any air brush compressor should work. They go up to about 50psi. Here is one place to buy small compressors. You might want to invest in one a little bigger than an air brush compressor as they are rather handy for a lot of things. (http://www.ares-server.com/Ares/Ares.asp.) The address is for Micro Mark. There are others, Iwata, Badger etc. Another address, (http://www.dixieart.com/), has air compressors.

From your post, I presume you have a big compressor already, correct?

Have you considered just a portable air tank? An example of what I am talking about is in this link, which is only for clarity:

I know other makers have similar products, which you should be able to find locally.

For about the same money you could buy a nail gun compressor. Higher pressure and you can use brad nailers etc. I picked up a used one for about $30 twin tank that I keep in the basement. Watch for sales at your local box stores.

I just made a call to a local store and found a 5 gallon air tank for $22.95.

Mike,

If you can, get the 10 gallon one. they are not much more expensive and you charge them half the time

Also don't forget that you'll need to make yourself an adaptor to load the tank with the other compressor: 2 quick connect male adaptors with a male to male threaded adaptor in between, connecting them back to back does the trick for me. It let's me keep the regular quick connectors for the accessories on both of the hose ends. You just need to disconnect both at the same time in order not to deplete the tank (or to install shut-off valves, but that is a luxury not a requirement)
