Question New vibration in dewalt 788

I have a dewalt 788 and love it. However, I am experiancing some new vibration and a little more noise towards the rear of the saw. Inspection found nothing obvious out of the ordinary. Is it possible that the counterwight on the motor shaft can be adjusted to remove the vibration or does anyone have any other possibilities or tips for fine tuning. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.. roughcut

I had/have some serious vibration and noise as well in my DW788. Check out the thread "A scrollers worst nightmare"...... GOOD LUCK!

Good Greif!! Just finished reading about your troubles. My hats off to you. The patience of a saint you have. I think I'll just try to figure this one out without the service center. I adjusted the tensioning arm as suggested through the other link and it did help some. I think I'll try that for a little while and see if it gets any worse again. If so will try adjusting the counter weight on the motor shaft and get the lupe out and see if there is a crack in anything. I haven't had the saw that long and is under warranty but the closest service center is 60 miles away and I really don't want to go what you went through. You know the old saying " if you want it done right do it yourself " No tech will care about the end result as much as you will.. Thanks for all the advice.. roughcut

Roughcut...if your saw is still under warranty and the common fixes don't work, by all means take it to the nearest service center. Worst case is you'll wait a few months, get extremely frustrated, and possibly end up with a new saw if they can't fix it....... I say "possibly" because mine hasn't shown up yet........ Good luck.

My tensioning rod was bent, some screws stripped out, and a crack here and there.
They did totally bugger up the tensioning system as well as loosing my Jim Dandy mounting hardware......and who knows what else is wrong since it is as bad as when they got it......

Well, I hope you get your new saw soon. They say the new Dewalts are having trouble too. I know the frustration of not having a saw or any tool when you need it. Its even more frustrating having one that is not working quite right or doing things it didn't used to. Especially if its not very old. Thanks for the advice and best of luck to you..roughcut
