using speed square - Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Message Board

I must be getting old. I have forgotten hoow to use a spped square.I am making a gun cabinet.I need to cut a piece of 1/2 oak plywood. It is 8 inches wide and 13 1/2 long. I need to keep the 131/2 on the bottom side with the30 degree.ending on the corner. I have spun the square a dozen different ways until i almost ready to start a bon fire. I still havn't got it to work. I have done this before I'm just having a little trouble remembering how.

I am sure you know a speed square is for rough framing lumber, and not for fine woodworking.

But anyway:

a rise of 7 inches over a 12 inch span is really 30.26 degrees. While 6 15/16 inch rise over 12 inch span is 30.03 degrees.
