Need Dremel Blade Holders - Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Message Board

Hi friends,
I have just come from trying to get someone set up to scroll using an older Dremel saw. I didn't jot down the model #, and I immediately forgot it

, but I remember from a similar Dremel I had, that there were some - probably cast metal - gizmos to attach to a plain end blade so that it would just pop into the holders like the pin-end blades that she is trying to use. I tried the Dremel site, but I s'pose those holders are obsolete now or something, because I couldn't find them.
I got the saw up and running, and it is doing OK with the PE blades, but there is so much more that is possible with the plain blades that I'm really eager to get her using them. I want to get her started on the really cool stuff!!

Sandy , I just did the same old thing. I gave my old craftsmon saw to my best friends son. and the one thing i thought. was he don't know how to saw at all. but he will do what he can on this one, and he is doing great. the funny thing is. I felt guilty about how i saw now. and HO HO. he don't know anything. only that he has a saw now. and what can he do now. I am a maized, at how he is doing. way better than I ever did. He doesn't know anything, so He don't know how hard it is . compaired to what i do. so he can do anything he puts hes mind too. just like lilttle brother charlie did

I'm so proud of our li'l brother Charlie, too. He is learning heaps faster than I ever did - It'l be a wonder if he still talks to us next year!

Actually, I know he'll keep us old ones around 'cause he's such a nice guy. But he sure is getting good!
I'm hoping to make another addict out of this one I set up today. It would be so much easier if I could just loan her some of my good blades. Those pinned ones from HD are just - well, since this may be a family site - doo-doo!
I remember back when I used the Dremel saw - and that must be 10 years or more ago - you could just buy those little holders at the hardware or diy store. I haven't looked for them since I gave that saw away - they seem to have disappeared!

You're right about the newbies thinking we're so good - if only they knew - at least about me. But that naive innocence lets them reach the moon. Such a thrill!

Sandy,
Wildwood Designs carries a plain end conversion kit as does Sears that will fit the old Dremel. I'm guessing it's a model 1671, (2 speed). I ordered a set of the blade holders direct from Dremel for mine a few years back.

Sandy, I am not sure, but on my old craftsmon, saw. I did buy a thing from sears, that turned my old pin blade saw into a straight end blade. what a hard mess. I just hated it. it took so much time to chang the blades. it cost $25.00. seemed cheap enouph. but was such a hassle. I just wonder. maybe, just let your little gale learn with what she has for now. find patterns, that will cut good with the pin blades. like puzzales. or even intarsia. or segmentation. that way she can cut from the outside , and not change blades so much , as to inhebit her.I; ;think it is hard enouph, to learn, so I know i give my little kiddlet. some easy patterns, to start with. then build, instent gradification.

I know spelling. sorry i cant be of more help. your friend Evie....... and yes, ,are little brother. is doing great. and look what he is doing with what he has.

I know you were looking for the clamps similar to the ones Hegner uses. I have seen those on Ebay and Amazon. I have even seen them in Home Hardware here in Canada. I always thought they were a bit finicky to use, thats why I suggested Franks stuff. I have never bought from him before but his products do look good.
He also has a few pattern books available through Fox Chapel.
