Smile Hegner Multicut 3 Scroll Saw

I have a chance to buy a Hegner multicut 3 variable speed in excellent condition for $600 ot B/O.

What is a multicut 3? Is this a good price or what would be a good B/O?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Northwoods.

Northwoods,

Here is the German web site: http://www.hegner-gmbh.com/ Scroll down and you will see the Multi Cut 3. It seems one of the lower priced once but it has 4 speeds. $ 600.00 is a lot of money as far as I can see for a second hand saw.

Advance Machinery http://www.advmachinery.com/
I can't find it on their web site. You could call them and ask if they sell the Multi cut 3

Mike, my friend... Can you translate this for me?

feinste Schnitte

enge Radien

handelsübliche Laubsägeblätter

schnellstmöglicher Sägeblattwechsel

Schnellspann-System (zum Teil)

Innenschnitt-Klemme

Holzstaub-Gebläse/-Absaugung

3 Jahre Garantie (ausgenommen Verschleißteile

Thanks, dale

Browsing the Hegner UK website, I can't find a Multicut 3 either. However, there is a Polycut 3 - if the saw you're being offered has features on a par with the Polycut 3, then it could be a bargain at $600.

Hi Dale, I will try it:

The model variety and the extensive accessories make Hegner the probably most competent offerer of Dekupiersaegen world-wide. Preserving he fine cut saws, uniquely in their kind, furnish amazing results as for example shown in the illustrations: finest cuts confine radii commercial leaves AEG sheets fastest possible saw blade change High-speed clamping system (partially) Interior cut clamp Wood dust blower/exhaust 3 years warranty (excluded wearing parts.
I will be honest Dale. I went to: http://babelfish.altavista.com/tr and they did it for me. Dekupiersaegen=scroll sawing.
Gill, you might be right but it looks to me that it is the low end of the Hegner saws. Adv Mach like you said is not selling it. I would call them at: 800-727-6553. Before I would buy it, I would like some more info. I just go what I see on both web sites.

Thumbs up Hegner multicu 3 or Multimax 25

I have talked to Advanced Machinery and they said the multicut 3 is also the Multimax 25 which when they last imported the saw in 1995 it retailed for $1995.00

She also said they stopped bringing them in from Germany because at top speed they had a vibration problem. These saws were converted from 220 volts used in Germany to 110 volts in the US and Canada.

Anyone have comments on the vibration problem?

She also said it was corrected by using a heavy duty stand.

He wants $600 US or best offer. He claims it has only 40 hours on the saw.

All comments PLEASE.... I need to decide soon and I need the comments of all you experts.

Northwoods,
Remember if you ever need parts you might have to get them from Germany.
I would infest a DeWalt or Delta P-20 for that money. At least you have a warrenty for at least a year.
Just my 2 cents.

I know that some people run their saws at top speed all the time but I can't recall having ever done so. Vibration can be overcome to a degree, but it's far better to have a saw without the problem. If it was so bad that Hegner stopped importing it, I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions.

Far more suspicious to me is the claim that this saw has only had 40 hours use. It's more than 11 years old and cost $1995, for goodness sake! Who spends two grand on a machine and only uses it for 40 hours in more than a decade? I'd be very wary of this machine. Heck, you could buy a brand new De Walt 788 for less than $600.

If I remember correctly the multicut has limited usage, doesn't it? What do you plan on using it for? Will you want to do more with it than you can? Would you not better saving this money and adding to it to get a better scrollsaw? Just food for thought!!
