What's your favourite scroll saw blade?

One thats sharp and cuts straight! Honestly I guess it depends on what you are cutting. I do like the FD blades and the service I get from both Mike at FD and Mike in Naniamo. I can't comment on a lot of the others. I have used D and B with some success. I have used Sawbird, I did like those. I am not crazy about the blades that come in a red packet. They are not very aggressive. My comment would be try them all, and choose wisely!

Tough one to vote on as there's so many others out there that aren't listed. I pretty much use FD's for almost everything, but I also have Olsons that came with my saw and they work well enough. My understanding is that Pegas are comparable to the FD's but I haven't tried these yet. I'm also curious about the ones Judy Gale Roberts sells but I haven't tried those yet. It would only be fair to pick a favorite of the types you've used, between Olsons and FD's I prefer the FD's. Kevin |

Like you, Kevin, I haven't tried all the blades that are available - give me time . Of those I have tried, I really like the Olson for general purpose cutting but as the cuts get finer I gravitate towards the FD blades. I really like the FD puzzle blades.I haven't tried any brand of spiral blades yet. Perhaps I really ought to, just for the sake of experience, but I'm happy with the flats I normally use. Gill |

FD blades are about the only ones I use, sometimes I use Olson 2/0 but that is it. Bob

I have used Olsons and really like their thick wood blade for cutting stock that is between 1" to 2" thick. I tried many of the RBI that came with that scroll saw and they cut like the Olsons. Pegas blades cut really good, last a long time, but, they seem to be expensive. My favorite blades are still the Flying Dutchman's. |

For me Olson best spirals. Pegas flat ones best for longest life and sharpness and quality of cut. FD good for cheaper blades. As far as poll goes bottom one that says Depends on what sort of project I am working on. Covers the question best for most scrollers. Fred Last edited by oaklysawyer; 10-21-2005 at 09:03 AM. |

I love the new FD spirals. They cut smoother and easier, and are a lot easier to control than other spirals I've tried. Bob

FD is my favorite, but when I run out and can't spend alot on a big shipment from Mike, I resort to Olson from Sears or the Hardwood Store ( http://www.thehardwoodstore.com/ ). | |
