Has anyone either bought a new Hegner scroll saw recently or purchased the sawdust management system? I was just wondering if they (Hegner) has provided for preventing the bottom blade clamp from falling on the floor when a blade breaks with their new system.

Hi Stoney. I bought a new Hegner two weeks ago today and already I have a couple of issues. I sent an e-mail to AM but they don't bother replying. My Dewalt 788 died but will be re-built by the second week of September. The dust management system works fine on mine. I have it set so that the air hose blows the dust off the line. I am rigging up a system with push fit plumbing pipes and connectors so i can use the air hose to suck the dust and of course it will be sucked from underneath the table as well at the same time. I have had a dry run and it works fine, just need to get some more fittings and it will be connected to my shop vac. Hope this helps.

Hi Fretnot, My main question is have you broken any blades and if so has Hegner fixed the problem of the bottom blade clamp falling on the floor?

Well Fretnot I think I answered my own question and the answer looks like it is NO! I believe you will have to provide some way of catching your bottom blade clamp when you break a blade. It appears the suction tube under the saw is below the blade guard so the guard would have to be open on the bottom.
