Default Dremel flex shaft

I've been looking at buying the dremel flex shaft Dremel flex shaft but I wondered if I needed anything else? In the listing on Amazon they show buying it with the multipro keyless chuck. Is this something I would need in order to use it??? I could see this as a real help with sanding small hard to reach spots. Any thoughts on this??? Thanks so much!!!

Cathy, I am not familiar with the Dremel flex shaft, but, I have a Dremel "Stylus" rotary tool. It is a pistol grip rotary tool with variable speeds. That's what I use for small sanding or grinding. I do have a flex shaft on my Roto-zip, rotary tool, but, that is very high speed, and it has a wrench to tighten each bit that is used. You would not want to use it on very small items. I'm sure someone has one & will give you some good advice on that item. Good Luck

Cathy,

I LOVE the Flex Shaft!!! The Keyless chuck makes it easy to change the sanding drums or whatever you need. You won't regret buying the flex shaft and will wonder why you didn't get one before now!

I also have the Dremel 400 hanging from the rafters with a flex shaft and keyless chuck.
I have mine connected to a foot switch to keep my hands free. The keyless chucks eliminates the collets when you go to different shank size bits.
I call it my poorboy Fordham.

I'm always amazed at how many use the Dremel tool and flex shaft. I've never been able to wrestle the durned thing into submission. Both are collecting dust. I guess I'll have to do more practicing with them. I've sure created a pile of designer firewood trying.

I have a flex shaft also, and have used it extensively. It is wearing out though, the wire inside that does the actual spinning shifts in the wire and disenguages from the dremel. Probably just need to work on it some.

Oh, by the way, I forgot to add that I, too, have my Dremel connected to a foot switch. It's ready to go all the time, just have to pick up the flex shaft and step on the pedal.

Do any of you know if this will work with the Dremel Multimax. I can't seem to find the answer on-line. Thanks.
