| Re: RBI Hawk ScrollSaw old fred;
My scrollsaw is a Delta modle 40-540c and I have the same problem as you sometimes.All I do is remove the speed selector plate and clean the circuit conections.I find after running the saw for awhile the connections get sawdust on them and short out the speed switch.I,ve told other people this and they say I,m full of it.I,m just telling you what works for me.As a matter of fact I did my thang just today and its workin just fine now.

| Used Hawk I was using an older Sears scroll saw with very easy to change pin end nlades. But wanted something better so I just got an older model Hawk for $200.00. It cuts great but it takes way too long to change blades. The lower blade requires the use of a cylinder type adapter which takes a while to insert the blade,
And the upper part of the blade holder takes awhile to remove and replace also. So when doing a lot of internal cutting, it takes too long.
It the tension is set just a little to tight, the blade pulls out of the lower holder.
Any advice would be appreciated before I put up the Hawk for sale.
By the way I make wooden gear clocks. You can see me at Index |

| Ernie,
Call Hawk, they have new blade holders for pretty cheap. They work so much better than the old ones, you'll be amazed.

| my advise is that if you are cutting very small detail work, don't get your head down too close to the saw. If the blade slips out or breaks you get a heck of a whack in the forehead. I have done it before and last week I did it twice in ten minutes! Wish I followed my own advice. Looks like I was in a no holds barred steel chair match, with blood and bump on head.

| Ken has it right. Call RBI and once you get past their awful (punny) jokes, talk to their tech. I had the same problem only it was with a brand new G4. Turns out that the electronic speed control needed to be replaced. Under warranty, they sent me a new one. A couple of allen screws and push on connectors hold it in. Real easy to replace. Works like a charm now.
