Default Sanding devices for puzzles & bowls

I am trying to set up my shop as a beginner scroll sawer. The items I hope to start with are Animal Puzzles, Puzzles from photos and Wooden Bowls. Which type of belt sander is preferred, vertical or horizontal belt sander? Also, where can you buy or make myself the following sanding devices that can be put in a power hand drill mounted on a bench: flexible pad sander, inflatable ball sander & mop/star sander?

All suggestions are welcome.

Many belt sanders will easily switch from vertical to horizontal, and have tables that let you sand at an angle. Many also include a disc sander, as well. I use a Jet (6" belt, 9" disc) that's very nice, but there are less expensive sanders out there that work well, too.

For specialty sanders, Klingspor's Woodoworking Shop is about the most complete. They have the hook & loop pad sanders in a variety of sizes. I like the 2" size, with the daisy-like discs. King Arthur's Tools sells the Guinevere inflatable round sander and sleeves--prices are fairly standard on those--not cheap, but very useful for bowl insides. I use these sanders with my drill press, although some people use flex shafts and motors.

I'm sure you'll get a lot a opinions, since sanding tools tend to be very personal. Good luck, and don't forget to have fun.

I have a random orbital sander, 2 palm sanders, a belt sander, 1 " belt and 5" side disc sander, a sanding mop, and my work horse, my ridgid oscillating spindle/belt sander.

Thanks Mile & Carole,

You suggestions are right on. I think that Woodcraft seems to have some sanding accessories that may work also. Mike, I appreciated your link to the Festivals. If I get good enough I would like to sell some of my work at craft shows. If you have some tips for me especially on 'how to price items' that would be greatly appreciated. My email address is kmccormack1@att.net.

Regards,

Ken

Ken if you look in the forum business side you will see several discussions on pricing of your work.
