Default Upgrade on scroll saw air

The air on my scroll saw works just OK on thin woods but not at all on the thicker woods I use a lot ( over 1"). On my Hegner Polymax the air is not adjustable and on the thick woods it strikes the wood in a bad place so sawdust is a problem. I tapped into my compressed air in my shop to make this air blower on this saw. $22 worth of tubing and fittings later, this system works well.

Does that jointed section of "hose" hold up with all the going up and down it will do?

very similar to the one on my 788 and it's approaching 10 years of use. I'm a bottom feeder so it is moved out of the way on almost all blade insertions.

On the Hegner saw I have the whole 20" arm goes up and down. That jointed "hose" will be moving up and down so fast as to be a blurr. I do not know how much of that constant movement it will take to ware it out.

Hi Jim,
The Hegner has a stationary arm, what was supposed to hold the hold down. There is a hole with tread to screw it in.
The hose is a link lock hose and can be moved in any dorection.

Jim, does that make the compressor run continuously? I like the idea of being able to crank up the volume on the air when needed. Nice implementation.

Mikes' solution is slick well, you might have to get one with your next order of blades :-)

I just drove through Lubbock a few days back and ate at a Braums there. Wish they had those here.

"Drove though Lubbock"? ! Nobody "drives through" Lubbock ! It is not on the way to anywhere! Ha ha. Next time, call me and I will give you a tour of my 25 x 10 foot shop.
No, the compressor does not run a lot with this set up. It uses little air but is under a lot of perssure coming from a 1/4" tube which has a, smaller still, inside diameter. Much stronger than the air pump that came with the saw, and I barely crack the ball valve open.

Still blowing dust into the air. You ought to save all that beautiful sawdust with a dust collector. I have one on my Hegner, my P-20 and my drill press and my Band saw. None on my glasses and that means none in my lungs.. WHEEEE!!!

(In case you didn't notice I don't like blowing dust LOL)
