Hello everyone, I have only been a member here for a month or so and I mentioned in a post or two that Im about to upgrade to the dewalt scroll saw. I have read many threads about the dewalt (pros and cons) and I definately like what I have read and seen so far. I would like to ask the sawers here about ordering from Grizzly tools, I have never ordered anything from them before and I was wondering if anyone had encountered any bad service?? I also have a question about the dewalt that might not be an issue anymore, after reading previous threads, is Grizzly selling the "TYPE 1 or TYPE 2" saw and how do you know what type you have? I would also like to ask if the dewalt saws sold nowdays still have some of the inherent problems or grimlins that I have read so much about here in the forum or have they been corrected by now. I still have about a week before I order it, I still want to get in on the low price that Grizzly has it at, I believe it is selling for $449.00 plus shipping......Thanks for any help and thanks for everyone here that makes up this pretty cool forum.............tommy |

I highly recommend Grizzly. I have purchased several items from them and shipping is fast and customer service is great albeit a non-toll free number. LOL You can tell if it is a type l or type ll by looking on the model serial number plate on the motor housing. Mine happens to be a type ll and no problems so far and it's about 5 or 6 or 7 years old I don't really remember when I bought it..

Grizzly will not ship to Canada, which for me is a pain. but that said I have several of their tools and for the money they are good. I also have an old and new Dewalt and have no problems with either. I just wore out the old one out, I sure hope the new one lasts as long.

ORDER IT! I had been looking for a second DeWalt for years and found Grizzly's price last week and ordered right away. It came in three days and I love it. I have my original mounted on the work bench and the new one just a swivel away to my right. I cut full size puzzles on one and stamp puzzles on the other. Great phun.... Carter |

Grizzly does a lot of business with woodworkers so like anything else, there will be those who had a bad experience. I've purchased from them, a bandsaw and a number of smaller items over the years, and have always gotten good service. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. I believe all Dewalt saws now being manufactured are the type II variety. Type I's were manufactured in Canada, I believe, while type II's are manufactured in Asia. Mine is 4-5 years old, a type II and the only real problem I've had is the infamous flaky switch. Solved that with a footswitch, which is a great addition, regardless. Can't say whether or not there are still nagging problems. A few are posted here from time to time. I suspect the main ones from a few years ago have been corrected, but there may be some new ones that crop up. When you buy yours, check it over thoroughly upon receipt. Put it through it's paces to make sure you are satisfied with it while you are still able to return it. Fellow in my scroll saw club had to try 3 of them before he found one that didn't have too much front to back movement in the blade. Good luck. Lots of satisfied Dewalt users out there and also lots of help should you discover a problem.

I have a number of tools from Grizzly, and always have been happy with their service. I also have the yella saws, and although mine are all type 1 saws, I believe all the problems with the early Type 2's are all taken care of. A few others on here recently bought the Griz Dewalt sale tools and I know they were very happy with the service, and quickness of the delivery, and the price cant be beat! I say jump on it before their sale ends!

I've been pricing them recently and Grizzly is definitely the best price. All are now type 2 and I think they got their initial problems worked out of them.

I ordered a sale saw too! I can't peak to the saw, as I am so green yet. But, the service wa great. I am in AK and wouldn't give my cc # until I KNEW how uc shipping was to be. They calld & confirmed & a daay or two later they phoned me and apologized for not getting it shipped and shipped it right away. I mean, someone went out of their way to let me know what was up & it wasn't even a big deal. Arrived quickly- to ALASKA even! A nd yeah, I checked everywhere and couldn't find a better deal (esp with all of the accessories). I would not hesitate to buy from them again.

Tommy, I recently received my DW788 from Grizzly. They ship fast, communicate very promptly, and the price is great. I just ordered their oscillating drum sander last week. I expected it on Monday (UPS site showed the delivery date). It didn't come. I checked the UPS site and it showed the sander as "delivered". Long story short, UPS had a new driver who delivered it to a neighbor up the road. Neighbor did not bring it to me. In the meantime, I emailed Grizzly about it. I received a response first thing the next morning. Then I got a phone call from Cindy in the freight department a couple hours later. I was assured that if the sander wasn't located, they would send me a replacement. ![]() My daughter-in-law knows the neighbor and asked her straight out if she had received the sander and she admitted she had but "just didn't get around to bringing it down". Nice neighbor, huh? daughter-in-law went to her house and got the sander and brought it to me. I emailed Grizzly, informing them I had located the sander and thanked them for their fast response. I got another phone call from Cindy, to verify that I indeed did have the sander in my hands and, since the "free gift" package was not located, they were sending me another. With the excellent customer service that Grizzly provides, I will happily recommend them. Nancy in AZ |
