Smile New Toy...

...sort of.

I stopped by the local Habitat store to look through their wood pile (found a piece of 3/4" X 6" X 4" cherry there for $2.50 one day) and to get some lacquer and as I turned from the lacquer shelf, there was a fairly new looking benchtop drill press.

Not a name brand, but it was clean and the belt looks like new--there's not even sawdust in the grease on the bearings. Got it for $20, which is about $50 less than a new, private label press of equal quality at a big box.

Considering I have been using a Dremel in their drill press add-on for the better part of year and hoping it has enough torque every time I do to drill more than 1/4", I thought the 1/2 HP rating on this would more than do for my purposes.

Now, I'm not as excited as Nancy (rippersmom) is about her new saw, but I have one more cog in the shop and life will get just a touch easier when it comes to making holes.

Speaking of which, I'm off to clear a place and make a few holes for this afternoon's cuttings.

Good find Jim. Almost anything will beat using the Dremel. That 1/2 hp motor should have plenty of power for drilling holes. At $20 you got a steal.
