Default Dewalt Light

That's it!! This confounded light does not stay in position and cost me three links out of my air nozzle. I pushed it up out of the way and stepped across the room to sand a couple of pieces. Looked over and saw the nozzle and a pile of black goo on the table. The @#$%^!! light creeped down and hit the tube melting one and fusing two. I'm taking it off unless someone knows how to get it to stay where you put it. This light is the only complaint I've ever had with this saw but it actually almost seems better with 3 less links in the air nozzle.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I looked at that light and decided against it. I've now got a 600W Halogen (two 300W bulbs) shop light above the table and a fluorescent magnifier I use with the saw.

Yes I have learned the hard way on these saw mounted lights too..I will never buy a saw mounted light again..I like the magnafier light much better..I have the one with the floresent bulb in it and it works great..

I now have a magnifying glass with a light built in but at first I was using the one that came with the saw and had no problems. Maybe you didn't have it on properly.
Check your mounting.

I unpacked that light, looked at it, and put it back in the box. It's around somewhere. I bought a florescent (circular) with a magnifier. Yes, it cost a little more but it has lasted 4 years and is still going strong. It puts out a good light and I can see what I'm doing resulting in a better product. That's about as good as it gets.

What a bummer , I don't use the light that came with the saw either , I use a four foot cheap Wal-mart florescent light double bulb that's hung about three foot just over the saw and me and have a 300 watt automotive work light that's mounted from the side . It gets a little warm , and with the heat from my heating stove and wearing a double respirator> I have to use a small fan that blows from the rear of me just to keep me just right ........happy scrolling ...

I put a hook in the ceiling above the saw and tethered the light to it with a slip knot so I can adjust it if I have to. I usually leave it in one position though. Doesn't slowly drop anymore.

Don't use the light either on my scroll saw. ( I use one of those "toilet seat" mag lights), so I just screwed the one that came with my scroll saw on to my smaller band saw.
It's a good sturdy light, so try using it somewhere else. Just my penny.jpg penny.jpgcents worth.

Thanks guys for letting me vent. I have also been using one of those toilet bowl magnifiers in addition to that confounded light. One would think that since Black and Decker is Dewalt's parent company they would have shared the design for the snake light ; guess not.
