Last winter I got a nice used hegner and along with it came some sets of the lower blade holder clamps. I was on the Hegner site today and noticed there are 3 different sizes of clamps but they are not marked on the clamps as to the size. Ex: .5mm, .7mm and 1.0mm. How do you really tell the difference on them? Thanks Bill

Hello Bill, Here is a suggestion. Start with the smallest blade clamp (the narrowest opening), open it to its widest setting. Then find the thickest blade that will fit into this opening and which can still be held firmly when the blade clamp is tightened. Repeat for the other two size blade clamps. You could then find some type of container to place the individual blade clamps in and label the container. ex. .5mm-2/0-1, .7mm-1-3, 1mm-3-7, etc. I'm thinking a small pill bottle or small storage cases you can pick up for a $1. Hope this helps you.

I painted a different color dot on each of mine. The trouble is that I don't remember what the color's stand for and can't find the paper I wrote it down on. I would go with Paul's idea. Tom

I ground a little flat spot off one corner of my .5mm clamps to identify them. I also made a rack to set my extra clamps in. As long as I put them back where they belong I'm all set. LOL

Is this something fairly recent with Hegner? I bought mine a few years ago and it only came with one size fits all clamps. They work well with all sizes of blades so I guess I don't need any more. Just curious. Dennis |

I have all three sizes of clamps, doesn't seem to matter what blade you put in any clamp they all seems to work. I think if you would measure the opening with a feeler gauge you should be able to tell the difference. I actually used an engraver to mark mine as to which blade I keep in the clamp ie 2, 2/0, 5, 7, ect.

Knothead - you can get 3 different size blade clamps from Adv. Machinery. If I recall the .7mm is the one that comes with the machine. I purchased the other two sizes so I wouldn't have to keep changing blades. I will use a couple of different size blades for a single project depending on need and being that the Hegner is a bottom feed the extras (in assorted sizes) came in handy. They also come in handy should one somehow become damaged though I never experienced that.
