Default Rest in peace

my Roybi belt and disk sander just died on me...
I have to say it gave me 5 great years of service...

I knew this was going to happen so a couple weeks ago I was looking at the Craftman 4 inch belt sander and I wouldn't have one of those if they paid me and their 6 inch was a little to much for my shop so I went out and bought me a new Ryobi.

No more changing back and forth with the tool rest, I now have one for the belt and disk sander..
plus I have a couple extra cog belts for it...

now to break the news to Mrs.Trout...

Trout, it's not how much it cost, it's how much you saved that's important.

How many times has Mrs Trout told you how much something cost ????, bet she's told you how much she's saved a lot more times LOL.

John is right Trout; it's not the cost but the savings that matter. Always get the best tool you can afford. Cheap gets replaced to quickly and the cost with the replacement often adds up to more than the better tool would have in the first place.

Congradulations on the new machine and good luck with the wife.

Hey didn't you leave the house recently so the wife could have a party / lady gathering?

I'm thinking you might just remind her about that....cleaned the shop and the house for her didin't you?

Or am I confused.....

I used to feel guilty about buying new tools. Now I just remind my wife that if it wasn't for the 30 odd pair of shoes in her closet (that she never wears) we wouldn't even miss the money I spend on new tools.
Actually I am fortunate in that my wife is reasonably understanding when it comes to my hobbies. Especially since I have saved us tons of money on contractors by doing our home repairs myself, including adding on two new rooms for our teenagers when they "came of age and needed their own space." Good grief!! I also built her a 8' X 8' room just for her where she has her own computer and two walk in closets off to the side and added a 1/2 bath to our bedroom so we didn't have to wait on afore mentioned teenagers when we need to use the bathroom.
Congratulations on your new toy Trout. Long may it serve!!

Hope the new belt sander lives up to the standards set by your old one. My ryobi is in ER waiting for a transplant. (broken drive belt).

Default you guys are funny....

Mrs.trout had a hard day yesterday so I wasn't able to tell her about the bad news but I did get a call early this morning about the missing money out of our account. getting paid once a month came be a pain sometimes.
luckily I forgot to turn in July's overtime card and with my August overtime I ended up with 50 extra hours @ time and a half so the sander only cost me a little over 2 hours.....

she knew it was going out because everytime I turned it on it got louder and louder, the cog drive on the shaft let go to the point of no return and I just ordered a couple new drive belt for it too...

it all good....

I have the opposite problem. I have to be careful when I say “I am going to get one of those one day”. I either get “isn’t today someday” ? or it shows up at my birthday or Christmas. The only time that doesn’t happen is if I am buying something big or complex. I am definitely spoiled.
I also get paid once a month and don't get overtime. They take my salary and divide by 12, now that I am used to that I wouldn't want it any other way.
