On my birthday I was given a brand new 20" variable speed De Walt Scroll Saw. Yeah for me! Anyways... When I first got the saw it was quiet as a mouse. I even cut wood at 3am in the morning just because I could. Well, lately it seems that the saw is getting louder and louder. Does anybody else have this problem? And if so what did you do to quiet it back down? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. You can reply here or email me at puzzled1@live.com Thanks!

I keep the liquor in another room. That helps the scrollsaw from getting too loud - especially on weekends!

Rick make taking the saw apart look easy - I'd be nervous during the whole process - I'd do it but I'd be nervous. I'm pretty lucky - I have a DeWalt service center about 25 miles away. So I guess I'm covered.

I was having the knocking problem as well as a switch problem and was getting very frustrated about it. Thank godness I have a Dad. When he came over and fixed the knocking and the switch problem. When it was all said and done your on position is my off position and vice versa. I don't consider it a big enough problem to open the saw up again.

Arn't Dads great! You know I was using my saw today and I really don't think it's a knocking problem. It's the motor that sounds loud. When I first got it it used to just hum silently. It was so quiet that I could cut in the middle of the night and not wake my neigbors and I have paper thin walls. I don't know what it is. It's still quieter than my old saw. It was a cheap habor feight saw. That saw you could hear throught the whole complex. |

That's strange, my saw is "yeller" & I don't have that problem !! Once in a while there will be a vibrating sound, but, not any length of time. Just good old "Yeller" Perk |
