I have a CW40 and am pleased with the results. Got it at Lowe's summer of 2008 and have given it quite a workout ove the past year. There are a couple of threads on the Hitchai. You might want to do a search for CW40 and see what you turn up.

I have one, it was my 2nd saw (1st one was a Ryobi). I have just upgraded to a dewalt, but the Hitachi was what got me hooked!!!

I had the Sears Craftsman version of that saw prior to getting my dewalt and it did me well for a good couple years. I thought it was a pretty good saw . I'm pretty sure it's the same saw rebranded to Hitachi when Craftsman discontinued it. This is the Sears: Ray

I've got a cw40, after owning a couple of real low end saws, it is a decent saw for the money. I got mine in Oct. 08 and cut 5-6 hours per week so it has been used quite a bit, and hasn't missed a beat yet. Of course it ain't yella or an excaliber, or hegner, or eclipse, but like I said it's in my opinion a decent saw. Greg |
